General Pest Control Questions

What pests are common in Brisbane homes?

Brisbane’s warm, humid climate makes it ideal for pests all year-round. The most common we see are cockroaches, ants, spiders, and rodents, with termite activity also a major concern across the region.

How often should pest control be done?

Most homes benefit from a general pest treatment once a year. If your property is surrounded by bushland or has higher pest activity, more frequent treatments may be recommended.

How long does pest control last?

In Brisbane conditions, treatments are designed for long-term control, not just a quick fix.
For common pests like cockroaches, spiders, and silverfish, protection can last up to 12 months. Ants can be more persistent and may need closer attention.

If covered pests come back within the service period, we'll return and sort it.

Do you recommend treatment even if I’m not seeing many pests?

Yes — pest activity often starts out of sight. Preventative treatments help stop small issues turning into bigger ones. If we don’t think a service is necessary, we’ll tell you.

Will you inspect before recommending a service?

Where needed, yes (A call-out fee applies). If a service isn’t necessary, we’ll let you know — we’re not here to sell you something you don’t need.

Do you provide termite inspections and treatments, and are you licensed?

Yes. We carry out professional termite inspections and treatments across Brisbane to Australian Standard AS4349.3, and we’re fully licensed to do so.

We hold a current QBCC licence for termite management work and a QLD Health PMT (Pest Management Technician) licence for timber pest inspections and treatments in Queensland.

Do you follow Australian safety standards?

Absolutely. All products we use are APVMA-approved, and our work follows Australian standards and workplace safety requirements.

Pricing & Expectations

How much does pest control cost?

It depends on the property size, service type, and what’s going on.
For a standard home, general pest treatments are usually a few hundred dollars, while more specialised services can vary.

Why do pest control prices vary?

Prices can vary based on the type of service, property size, and level of infestation.

For our services, location and travel distance from our base in Carina Heights can also play a role, along with whether specialised treatments are required.

We keep pricing straightforward — no unnecessary upselling, just recommendations where they’re genuinely needed.

Is cheap pest control worth it?

Cheap treatments can mean limited coverage or short-term results.
A proper treatment focuses on long-term control and includes a service period, so you’re not paying again if pests return sooner than expected.

What areas of the property do you treat?

Treatments usually cover the interior, exterior, and roof void (where accessible).
Access matters. If key areas are blocked or locked, it may limit results and affect service guarantees.

Roof void notice: For safety reasons, power must be turned off before we enter the roof space to eliminate electrical risk.

Does LB Pest Management offer free quotes?

Yes we do. Simply call 1300 403 172, email info@lbpestmanagement.com, or use the contact form on our website at lbpestmanagement.com/contact with details about your property (or properties, if multiple), the type of service you'd like done and your availability, and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

Before the Service

Do I need to prepare my home before treatment?

Yes, and it makes a big difference.
Clearing floors, removing clutter, and making sure we can access key areas helps us treat properly and get better results.

We will send you a pre-treatment guide before your appointment with further details on how you can prepare your home for pest control.

Do I need to tell you anything before the service?

Yes, this is important.
Please let us know about pets (especially birds or reptiles), fish tanks or ponds, and any sensitivities, allergies, other health conditions, or young children. This helps us tailor the treatment and give the right prep advice.

Is pest control safe for kids, pets, or during pregnancy?

Yes, when applied correctly, treatments are safe for families, including pets.
We use products suited for residential environments and apply them carefully, with clear guidance on anything you need to do before or after.

Do I need to leave the house during treatment?

Usually, no. You can stay home, just keep clear of areas being treated. If you’re not home, please make sure arrangements are made ahead of time, as we do need access to the property and any locked areas.

What should I do with pets during treatment?

Dogs and cats can usually stay but should be kept away from treated areas until dry. If your pet is sensitive or easily stressed, you might prefer to take them out during the service.
Birds and fish tanks need extra care and should be covered or moved to a safe area beforehand.

During & After the Service

How long does the appointment take?

Most services take around 1–2 hours, depending on the size of the property and what’s involved. We’ll let you know on the day if anything is likely to take longer.

What should I do after the treatment?

To get the best results, avoid mopping or vacuuming treated areas for at least 48 hours. This gives the treatment time to settle and do what it’s meant to do.

Why am I seeing more pest activity right after treatment?

This can catch people off guard, but it’s completely normal.
Pests often become more active as they come into contact with treated areas. You should notice things settling down over the following days and weeks.

How long does it take to see results?

Most people notice a clear improvement within a couple of weeks. Timing can vary depending on the level of activity, but things should steadily head in the right direction.

What can I do to keep pests away after treatment?

Simple things go a long way, like keeping areas clean, managing waste, sealing entry points, and reducing moisture. We’ll walk you through the most relevant tips for your property.

What should I do if I feel unwell after the treatment?

If you or anyone in the home experiences symptoms like irritation, headaches, or breathing issues, it’s important to seek medical advice promptly.

While the products we use are approved and applied in line with Australian standards, sensitivities can vary from person to person. We recommend contacting your GP or the Poisons Information Centre (13 11 26 in Australia) for guidance, and letting us know as well so we can assist where needed.

What if my pet seems unwell after treatment?

If your pet shows any unusual symptoms, contact your vet as soon as possible.

As a precaution, always keep pets away from treated areas until they’re fully dry and follow any aftercare advice provided on the day. If needed, we can also provide product details to your vet to help with treatment.

Follow-Ups & Guarantees

Will you remind me when I’m due again?

If you’d like, we can keep a record and remind you when your next service is due.

What happens if pests come back after treatment?

If covered pests return within the service period, we’ll come back and re-treat at no extra cost.
General pest treatments include:

  • 12 months for cockroaches, spiders, and silverfish

  • 6 months for ants

Why might pests reappear long after treatment?

In some cases after treatment, pests can reappear later on due to factors like new activity from neighbouring properties, changing environmental conditions, or access points that allow them back in.

We’ll always provide recommendations after your service (such as reducing attractants or sealing entry points) to help the treatment last as long as possible.

What happens if I don’t prepare properly?

It can affect how well the treatment works.
If we can’t access key areas, it may also impact eligibility for free follow-up services.

For Property Managers / Shared Spaces

Do tenants or occupants need to be notified before treatment?

Yes. If you manage a property, you’re required to notify residents, staff, or visitors about upcoming pest control and any safety instructions.

Do I need to notify people after the treatment as well?

Yes. Any post-treatment advice (like re-entry times or safety info) should also be shared with occupants as soon as possible.
